What Is The “CONPET at School” Project

Subjects such as energy, rational use of non-renewable resources, respect for the environment and reduction of the emissions of toxic gases are increasingly being discussed in society, with aims at reaching solutions to provide sustainability for our planet.

In this sense, Conpet developed the Conpet at School Project, which is focused on our country’s educational network. Since Elementary School teachers are natural propagators of information, the project is directed for 5th to 8th grade teachers of the public and private school networks.

In order to be able to pass on the information to their students and, thus create a future generation aware about the importance of the preservation of natural resources and the environment, the teachers participate in a Workshop, totally designed to stimulate a reflection about the subject matters proposed.

How Was It Born

The Project, implemented nationwide, was created under the auspices of an agreement made between the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the Ministry of Education and Sports (MEC) and Petrobras. The latter is responsible for establishing agreements with the Education and/or Environment Secretariats and Learning Establishments Associations to implement the Conpet at School Project on the country’s public and private education networks.

In 1992, a pilot project was implemented in the City of Niterói, State of Rio de Janeiro, and the project’s methodology was approved by the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The Project’s Objectives

The Conpet at School Project’s main objective is to integrate and motivate teachers to act as awareness agents who transform the habits and attitudes not only of their students but also of the own school and of the community, in relation to issues related to energy, citizenship and preservation of renewable and non-renewable natural resources, in special oil and natural gas byproducts and the environment.

The Conpet at School Project also seeks to develop a holistic vision and promote self-responsibility for our future.
