Clear objectives to achieve significant results

Within a short period of time, between two to five years, reduce specific consumption of diesel oil by approximately 13%, obtaining a reduction of approximately 50,000 barrels/day.

Minimize motor vehicle emissions, promoting air quality improvements and positively recovering the industry’s image.

Promote the proper care requirements for the storage of diesel oil.

Consolidate the transportation market, presenting to users a view of safer and higher quality services.

Provide companies in this industry with the necessary means to obtain reductions on fuel and vehicle maintenance costs, improving their results.

Create awareness and motivate the transportation sector in relation to the need to rationalize the use of diesel oil and refrain from inspecting companies.

This is a key partnership for the Project’s operation

The EconomizAR Project’s organization and mode of operation consist of a national coordination and regional supervisions offices. The national coordination office – Petrobras/CONPET and CNT/Idaq – is responsible for the institutional articulation, for establishing targets to be reached, for approving operational rules and procedures, and for overseeing and evaluating results. The regional supervisory offices are responsible for drafting operational rules and procedures and for planning and controlling the execution of the field activities at the respective areas of influence.

The EconomizAR Project has mobile units equipped with the instruments necessary to analyze the critical points that influence the rational use of diesel oil. The technicians working at the mobile units are highly qualified and received extensive training from CONPET in order to live up to the project’s expectations. They work in partnership with these companies’ professionals in order to make a joint evaluation f the following points:

• Methodology for managing transporters’ use of fuels.
• Condition of vehicles and engine yield (smoke test using an opacity meter).
• Vehicle maintenance practices.- Drivers and mechanics’ qualification.
• Quality of the diesel used, care with receiving, storing and facilities.
• Identification of successful practices and experiences adopted by companies who contribute to increase diesel use efficiency.

Credibility and positive image recovery

Less black smoke: after being tested by the EconomizAR Project, buses and trucks present reduced particle emissions, lowering pollution at large urban centers and contributing towards improving the population’s quality of life. The project has been helping participating companies to comply with resolutions on motor vehicle emissions enacted by the environmental agencies and to perform their social responsibility.

Labeled Efficiency: in some of the country’s states, vehicles certified by the EconomizAR Project are already receiving the Power Efficiency Seal. All vehicles bearing this seal are permanently monitored by the project’s team members and by the owner company, who all verify its performance for fuel yield and emission of particles.
