Petrobras Program
Power conservation in the Country’s biggest industry
The Petrobras Power Conservation Program, which was coordinated by CONPET until 2002, was established for the purposes of increasing power efficiency and lower power consumption at the company’s facilities.
Structured through the Internal Power Conservation Commissions - CICEs, present in the various agencies that make up the Petrobras System, the Program was based on the following lines of action: oversight of the consumption of power resources; gathering of information on the potential for the reduction of power-related expenses; drafting of consumption reduction projects; development of awareness actions and involvement of all employees.
The power conservation procedures established at the company included systems for the use of the natural gas extracted during oil production, use of renewable power sources (solar and wind), cogeneration processes at the refineries as well as reduction in the demand and consumption of electricity at the company’s administrative offices.
